6400 Array ctrl. fails and are missing disk with wrong SCSI ID

??? Parallel SCSI Drive at Port 1 : SCSI ID 12 is bad or missing
Apparently the controller reports a nonexistent drive as failed, and the RAID does not rebuild because it's waiting for that drive to be replaced.

Ddi you make sure the 6400 firmware level is 2.84? also, are the physical HD's firmware updated? what PSP version? model server?

Hi Rebooter,
If only six hard drives are installed physically then you should report this to hp.
Never heard of appearance of extra SCSI in existing Array, Heard about changing of SCSI id though.
Kindly select each hard drive one by one in ACU and verify their physical location to confirm their SCSI IDs.

I don't think it could be resolved easily.
You may need to delete the existing array and rebuild from scratch

Re: 6400 Array ctrl. fails and are missing disk with wrong SCSI ID

The server is a ML530 G2 and is running the latest PSP. Firmware is 2.84 on the controller.
Originally one of the disks failed, but when we changed the disk it wouldn't rebuild. It just appeared as a new unassigned disk. We thought this was because the battery (BBCW) failed, but this have been replaced as well and the problem still exists.

Re: 6400 Array ctrl. fails and are missing disk with wrong SCSI ID

So its a SCSI id change issue.
Now there is no hardware error in current reports.
But Its Such a pain to get to the Normal.

Now you should backup your data, check the backup,Delete the Array, Refix all the hard drives, rebuild the array and logical drive then restore OS and data.
