Solution
This is a known issue with the 6400 controller. And can be fixed by downloading the latest firmware for the controller itself.

You'll need a Smartstart 6.2-6.4 (Not 7) or higher and the provided file or the Smartstart Firmware maintence CD which can be located here :

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/21330.html
