641 Card and Battery

I have a DL380 G4 with a 641 card. Currently the card is set at 100% Read/ 0% Write causing slow write. There is no option to change this RW ratio in ACU so I assume there is no onboard battery and I can buy a battery so I can change the RW ration. Am I correct? Attached is a screenshot of the ACU. Thanks.

Re: 641 Card and Battery

You are correct, you need a battery backed write cache enabler kit in order to enable write cache. The battery comes as part of this kit, which also includes a transportable memory module that allows you to transport the write cache to a new controller in the event of controller failure.

Thr part number for the 128MB BBWC Enabler kit is 351580-B21 (as is stated in the above document)

Re: 641 Card and Battery

Hi HTT,

You need battery whhich is battery back write cache (BBWC) to increase RW ratio.
The 128MB BBWC Enabler is a transportable 128MB battery module increasing the total memory of the controller to 192MB for RAID, read cache, and BBWC.
128MB BBWC (Battery Backed Write Cache) Enabler allows the 641/642 controllers an option to add transportable BBWC for improved controller performance and increases the total controller memory to 192MB.

Check below link for detail about BBWC

If it helps, pls assign point.
