6500 Hot Plug Slot

How do I disable a hot plug slot on a Proliant 6500. I need to add a new card without shuting down the server. I've looked but can't find how to do it.
Thanks for any help.

Re: 6500 Hot Plug Slot

Hello;

It all depends on which Operating System you have and which card you are adding.

Windows and NetWare OS have hot-plug drivers that allow you to power off the slot from the OS and add a card. This support is installed with the CSP.

You can also power off the slot physically with a button on the board itself (instructions are usually printed in the inside cover label) add the card and then power the slot back up again.

Whether or not you can load and configure the driver without rebooting is an OS issue.

You'll need to know if your OS supports that.

Hope that helps,

Janine
