7.9 firmware upgrade

Hi,

I just recently upgraded a few of my servers with firmware upgrade CD 7.9, all went well except one box, which died. I guess at network card firmware upgrade. it starts booting, initialize ILO, and array, then it stops without saying anything.
Do you have any idea?

Thanks very much
Imre

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

sorry, it's a DL380G4!
I already tried min config, no HDD 1 proc, 2 memory module, no PCI cards...
- tried nvram clear
- tried to use recovery rom (I think the ROM is ok, so it didn't help)

Thanks

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

hi

about this
"- tried to use recovery rom (I think the ROM is ok, so it didn't help)"

the server is stopping after the controller is initialized right?

or do you have any chance to boot the server with CD or floppy?

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

It stops after the array controller is initialized, then it would initialize the network card option rom, (at least all the others do this), but it stops after array initialization, and nothing happens... I have to push the button for 4 sec to turn off... no cd no flopy boot.. :-(

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

hi,

it doesn't say anything after the array initialized, just the cursor goes one line down, and stops.

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

hi

sounds like system board(6i controller?), if you have any chance to swap components between servers that would help you

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

I have another server, and tried to change everything except the mainboard (and devices integrated on the mainboard) I don't know if I can remove sa from motherboard...

Re: 7.9 firmware upgrade

hi

if the controller is a 6i do you know?

you can not swap the controller because it is embbeded on the SB.
