8gig in Proliant 110 G5
Hi All,
I wonder if anyone here has had a issue with their Proliant 110 G5.
I have added 4Gig memory without any problem. Once i ad any other memory module, it if it is 1, 2 gig or if it is 4x2 gig i get a error and computer does not start.
It start with a long "Beep" followed by 3 shorter beeps and than short paus and than another 3 beeps finaly one last long beep.
I know it has to do with memory but i don't understand as per HP spec it should support 8Gig ram. I have the latest BIOS as well.
I have been testing diffrent memory modules and so on. Nothing seems to be helping.

Re: 8gig in Proliant 110 G5
hmm Essa you can use four of these to make 8gigs max
GB Unbuffered PC2-6400 ECC DIMM (1 x 2 GB) 450260-B21
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12867_na/12867_na.HTML#Memory
make sure it is hp branded, best if it is same brand too , and ensure you have latest rom ,
swap dims around does a certain dimm light up yellow on the sys board,if it sa certain dimm it a bad one if its the slot then its the board , if a mixture then likely it is not real hp dimm.
This is how we thank each other in the forum

Re: 8gig in Proliant 110 G5
Hi Mark,
Great and speedy response. I am wondering if i have a problem on the board.
Here is some fact. I have swapped around with memory back and forth and none does help 4 gig no problem but anything above 4 or more than 2 slots taken it starts to complain.
You said "swap dims around does a certain dimm light up yellow on the sys" what light do you refeer to?
I have even tried to put in the old 1 gig module but as soon as i add a 2 other modules than it stops working.
The latest memory i bought is PNY DDR2 800Mhz PC5400 None ECC.But they work fine if i just put them in. In combination with my other memory they will not work.
All the best

Re: 8gig in Proliant 110 G5
ensure all memory is hp branded , and has numbers that match from the link i sent
install memory according to that quickspec document...
in the link above, often memory is sold as HP compatible but not branded and does cause such issues
