ACU not detecting any supported controllers (ML370 G3) using SmartStartCD.

I have a new ML370 G3 with (2) 64-bit Dual Channel-Wide Ultra3 SCSI Host Bus Adapters.

When using the SmartStartCD 6.10 release, and running the ACU it displays a message stating "ACU did not detect any supported controllers in your system".

Reading a bit of help docs, it said to make sure I have the proper drivers installed....so I proceeded to download the latest from HP.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated:)

Sincerely,

CB

Those Adapters are not considered array controllers. They are there for plain-jane stand alone scsi drives - being tape or disk.

It seems the new way of building units is to make them as bare as possible, so you can just add the components you want. You must purchase a Smart array controller for RAID abilities in this system.

Thanks for the quick response:) So, my next question is what piece of hardware will I need to configure Hardware RAID 5 for this server?

Thanks for your patience...:)

Ok, so what is the suggested array controller for the ML370 G3?

Thanks for the help....:)

Depends what you want. Either the 532 or one of the 5300 series should do you fine.

You can find the current lineup of SA controllers at http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/arraycontrollers/index.html

I would wait for the SA-64x controllers which will be announced on Feb06. They support PCI-X, are U320 capable and have 128MB of RO cache (upgradable to RW cache).
