ASR Detected by System ROM on DL580 G4
We have a brand new Proliant DL580 G4 server which we have recently built.
On the 8th October and the 23rd November, the system ASR'd for no apparent reason (no help in the Event Log or system anywhere).
We are running the following:
-> W2K3 Server x64 Standard Edition SP2
-> MS SQL Server 2005
-> SAP ECC6
-> Connected to EVA6000 SAN via QLogic HBA cards
Have any of you had this problem before with any pointers of where to start troubleshooting this?
Thanks in advance,
Ben.

Re: ASR Detected by System ROM on DL580 G4
hi Ben
so "ASR Detected by System ROM" that means server has latest Proliant support pack and Firmware for all the components?
also check the attached file regarding that error

Re: ASR Detected by System ROM on DL580 G4
Hello Ben,
What is the role of this server ? Do you copy huge files (backup may be) ? If the Network is set to a HIGH speed, which gives a higher data throughput than what the DISK WRITE cache can handle, there will be a bottleneck; I have seen this causing ASR; Also, this is not seen on all server, On Certain HDDs & Controllers only.
You could disable the ASR in the BIOS to get dump files; which can be analyzed the next time you encounter the same.
:) Regards.
