ATA Disk Drive Status Change (14004)

I have a DL320 that Insight Manager reported as having ATA Disk Status Change. The device homepage indicated it was a SMART error and it should be replaced.
However, now, miraculously, it is fine! Seems to me it's probably just a warning but . . . .
Anyway, I tried using the Array Configuration Utility to find out what the RAID was, but it reported that 'ACU did not detect any supported controllers in your system'. Yikes!
Now what?
Thanks,
Kelly

Re: ATA Disk Drive Status Change (14004)

As far as I know ACU is for managing your SmartArray controllers - hence no onboard ATA support.

SMART gathers pre-failure signals, so could 'wink' form time to time before disk actually fails.

If the warning repeats then better replace your drive.

Rgds.

Thanks for the response. The drive is now GREEN and everything is fine now. Seems there was a 'wink'! Hopefully it will last until we put that particular system on a virtual server.
Thanks again!
