Re: About mixed RPM in bay
It is absolutely no relation with RPM of disk on a RAID array.
15 K rpm disk will work in 15K & 10K rpm disk will work in 10K eventhough both are in same array.
More rpm on a disk will reduce your seek time &write time.
Once data is given to the disk controller/buffer from RAID controller, it will hold there unless the current write/ read activity to complete. So if you have higher rpm disk, this process will complete faster than the other disk.
Hope now you can conclude...
Regards,
Shameer

Re: About mixed RPM in bay
Both sets will work at different speed, but this is not a recommended option.

Re: About mixed RPM in bay
Who knows what Malik is talking about but it is not HP or the industry in general.
The RPM of the drive, as V.A. described, is absolutely unknown to and downstream of the controller. The interface (U160/U320) is the ONLY thing that will be shared between the controller and the drive.
