Activate Hot Spare Drive
I have a Proliant DL380 G5 with 4 Hot Spare drives. One of my volumes is running low on space and I would like to increase its size by activating one of the 136 gb drives and adding it to this volume. However I'm certain on how to do this. Can someone help me with instructions on how to activate and ad this drive to the volume?
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Activate Hot Spare Drive
What RAID level are you using on it? I would not add it as RAID 0. I would do RAID 10. RAID 5 could slow performance. What is your controller?

Re: Activate Hot Spare Drive
Sorry, I should have added that information. It's a Smart Array P800 with a RAID5 configuration.

Re: Activate Hot Spare Drive
You would unmark your spare to available. Add it to the array in the Array management software. then, you need to expand the partition. If its Windows, you can't expand an array with a paging file in it. You will have to remove the paging file to expand it in Windows.
