Add Memory DL580 G5
Hello, I have a DL580 G5 with 16gb Ram (8 x 2gb). I have an additional 16gb(2 x 8gb) of ram to add to the server. Essentially this server would have 32gb ram installed, (8x2gb) and (2x8gb).
Will this configuration work?
thanks!

Re: Add Memory DL580 G5
Hi tomob,
There is a rule as the highest RAM pair will be add on the lowest memory BANK. It means, additional 16gb(2 x 8gb) of RAM will be add on bank Bank A 1A/5A. For more info, check the PDF:

Re: Add Memory DL580 G5
All, thanks for the responses. So I will start with populating the 1a and 5a sockets with the 8gb DIMMs. Then 9b and 13b, 2c and 6c and so on with the 2gb DIMMS until all the memory is installed. Is that correct?
Also, The quick specs state "Four identical FBDIMMs must be populated across the four memory channels." Will I have an issue with 2-8gb DIMMs and 2-2gb DIMMs in the same Channel?
