Added 4 disks to array but 1 existing logical drive gone missing
I have a Compaq Proliant DL580R01 with Smart Array 532 Controller with 10 internal bays in which 8 is occupied with 18.2 G Harddrives. In addidtion an StorageWorks Fibre Channel Array Subsystem - RA4100 is also connected to this server with 10 bays of which 8 is occupied.
Currently, it is configured with 6 logical drives, 5 of which is mirrored , the other running RAID-5.
We want to increase the disk capacity of the server with 4 18.2 Harddrives with one of which to be configured a s a hot-spare.
After inserting the 4 new drives, we'd used the COmpaq array software to expand the array. After that, we created a new logical drive. But to our horror, one of existing logical drives had gone missing!! Thus, we had to revert the changes.
Does anyone have any suggestions/comments on this peculiar problem?
Thanks in advance
Regards,
WM Fung

Re: Added 4 disks to array but 1 existing logical drive gone missing
I made a mistake, it's actually a 5300 controller.
The ACU version is 7.0.1.0.
I also got a dump of the array config.
Thx.

Re: Added 4 disks to array but 1 existing logical drive gone missing
What storage unit is connected to the SA5300 controller? Which array did you modify, the one on the SA5300 or the RA4100 and which storage unit did the existing logical drive disappear from?

Re: Added 4 disks to array but 1 existing logical drive gone missing
Unfornately, we can only conduct maintenance during the maintenance window which is still a week away. Thus updates can only be done then.
I will post the findings once I had finished the work.
Thanks so much for help. Much appreciated.
