Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G6
I'm getting ready to add a 2nd Xeon processor to my server. The server currently has a 460 Watt power supply. Will I need to upgrade or add a 2nd 460 Watt power supply to the server if I add a 2nd processer?
Thanks.

Re: Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G6
Hello kmorgan,
second power supply is for redundancy. If you want to use 2 CPUs you can have just 1 power supply.
You can just consider to upgrade your PSU to 750 W if you have more devices like tape drive atc. connected in server.

Re: Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G6
Hi,
for ML350 G6 you dont need any additional hardware to be installed along with the add on CPU, but please refere the below information given in the document which is equally important.
Do not mix single-, dual-, or quad-core processors or processors with different speeds or cache sizes

Re: Adding 2nd processor to ML350 G6
You already got your answer, but for future references you might want to have a look at:
http://www8.hp.com/ie/en/products/servers/solutions.html?compURI=1439951#.VVUS41MXRWo
With that tool you can check how much power each server, rack or even sets of racks in various configurations require.
Cheers,
Rob
