Adding 3rd CPU to ML 570 G3
OK, what is the correct order of processors when expanding this box?
I started with 2 in scoket 1 & 2 and went to add a third.
When I installed the 3rd processor & vrm in the processor 3 socket, the machine would not init and displayed an error code r1.
Thinking the new cpu was defective, I swapped new with #2 processor & vrm.
OK so far.
If I populate socket 1 3 and 4 the machine boots and runs properly.
Any ideas eventually I'd like at add a 4th
thanks

Re: Adding 3rd CPU to ML 570 G3
Hello Todd,
the correct sequence of populating CPUs in ML570G3 is 1, 2, 4, 3 ... the behaviour you describe is correct ...
Sounds strange, but that's how the system board is designed ...

Re: Adding 3rd CPU to ML 570 G3
Are you sure about this order?
When I swapped processors to fill sockets 1,2 & 4 the system shows a red led in the front and a n6 error on the display.
currently it only boots with 1 & 2 or 1,3 & 4 populated.
I don't have the 4th processor to test a 4 cpu config.
But if there is a m/b failure I need to determine this asap so I can return the systenm as defective.

Re: Adding 3rd CPU to ML 570 G3
Hi Todd, strange, but 1, 2, 4, 3 order is written in support documentation with exclamation at the front of the sentence ... but it may be wrong, I don't have 570G3 to test that ... Radek
