I am trying to install a 73GB SCSI Drive into an ML370 using the LVD160 onboard controller. The setup is as follows - Smart SCSI Array Controller with 3 x 9GB Drives in RAID 5 config. OS is W2K Server SP3. The server is to be used as an indexer hence the large additional drive. The problem is weird (I think) The server sees the drive the OS sees the drive but only in the device manager. Using the SmartStart CD doesnt allow me to format the drive and add it to the system. Am I missing something really basic here?

Solution
Since you're adding it to the on-board controller, you need to treat it like any ordinary (no smart array) drive. If the device manager has found it, all that's left to do is start the disk management tool in the MMC, have NT "sign it" and then you can add partitions and format it.
Don't use Smart Start for this, it's an NT/Win2k only issue.

Re: Adding Additional SCSI Drive to ML370
Does the computer management panel see them? It is located under the administrative tools folder.
