Adding Drive Cage to ML570G2
Hello everyone-
Does anyone know if there is documentation out there on installing an optional drive cage into a ML570G2? We want to install it in the bay where normally a tape drive would go. We're just unsure about how to do the SCSI cabling in the back of the cages.
Thanks!

Re: Adding Drive Cage to ML570G2
Hi Mark,
According to the ML570G2 quickspecs..
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11421_div/11421_div.HTML
..there is only one type of optional internal storage bay in addition to the default 12 X SCSI hotplug drive slots. This is a Two-Bay SCSI drive cage, option part number 244058-B21.
This is the only supported add-on, for a total of 14 drives internally.
I have attached the installation procedure pdf file for this item to my reply.
Please note that it states in this document: -
IMPORTANT: If an internal SCSI connector is not available for managing your
drive cage, install a SCSI controller or array controller. Ensure you have the needed
controller before you install the drive cage.
I hope this helps.
Brian
