Re: Adding HDD to Smart Array 641
Hi Rios, sorry for the late answer.
just plugin the disks.
open acu and create a new array on the new disks.
here's link to the manual.
It will work for the 6i also:

Re: Adding HDD to Smart Array 641
Greg,
ML370 G4 - 3 72GB(RAID5) + 1 72GB
I have an almost duplicate scenario. However I am going on option 1. I see it referred to "Expand" vs "Extend" .. The drive was added to the controller fine.. I have options to extend the existing array to the max size of the origional drive RAID. but not to Expand the 4 drive into the existing 3 drive array.
Can the Expand Array be done on-line or did they hide/rename the option/procedure somewhere in the ACU..

Re: Adding HDD to Smart Array 641
Kelly.
I can't rememerber the details, on when it says expand or when it says extend.
Check the manual, the I have linked to.
The options will appear when you add extra disks.
The options will be shown, when don't have the extra space.
So
Plug in the disks
Open ACU
And take a look at it. Then you will feel more comfortable.
Do remember:
Allways ensure you have a good backup.
