Adding Hot Spart to Existing RAID-5 Array?

Is it possible to add a HS to an existing RAID-5 array on a Proliant DL380 G6? The controller is HP Smart Array P410i/512 MB BBWC Controller.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Adding Hot Spart to Existing RAID-5 Array?

It sure is. The hot spare is known as a "global hot spare" and it is for all array groups in the SA410 controller not just a specific array group. In your case you probably have one array group for the whole controller.

Do you have ACU installed? It can easily be done. Search for the work "spare" in the acu document.
