Adding a 146GB SAS disk to an ML350 G6 Raid5 array

Hey

So am just needing to understand the process of adding another disk to an existing raid5 array on an ml350 G6 with SBS2008 (not that the os should matter).

Is it just a matter of plugging in the drive and booting into the Raid config and expanding the array or is it more complicated etc..

thanks for any help

Re: Adding a 146GB SAS disk to an ML350 G6 Raid5 array

hi,

its depend on your RAID controller, them hove many cache do you have + of course you need to have BBWC module.

some raid controllers need to install license key on the controller.

the expanding of the raid - logical volume could be done online or offline, the best way is to do it offline because there is no any impact regarding performance on you running Windows system.

If you expand the array on HW level them the OS level expansion is very simple from Computer management.
