Adding a 2nd CPU to a ML350 G4 running W2K Server
Hi all,
Has anyone out there added a 2nd CPU to a ML350 G4?
Our server is currently running a single 2.8GHz Xeon CPU, 1GB ram and windows 2000 Server on a Raid5 Array (3disk+1spare).
I can add the 2nd CPU no problems from a practicle point of view, but i dont know what i need to do to make Windows know whats happening or ensure the Server itself recognises it correctly.
If anyones done it, can you let me know any tricks or resources and any pitfalls i may encounter??
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Adding a 2nd CPU to a ML350 G4 running W2K Server
Andy,
If you installed windows with hyper threading enabled (which is the default), windows will install the multiprocessor HAL, in which case you do not need to do anything in windows when you install the second processor. You can confirm this by going to device manager and see if ACPI multiprocessor is listed under "Computer". If you installed windows with hyper threading disabled then you need to update the ACPI Uniprocessor to ACPI multiprocessor ├в its like doing a driver update from device mana

Thanks
