Adding a Disk for more space

Hello,

Im running Red Hat AS 4.0 installed on a DL380 with Raid 5 configured.
I'm running low on disk space. I'm adding 1 more disk to the system but I would like to know the following:
1. Do I use ACU to make the array see the drive?
2. Do I need to configure Linux to see the extra space(drive)?

Thanks,
E.

Re: Adding a Disk for more space

Is your system using LVM? I think that Linux does not support yet the expansion of a disk.

You could create a new LUN on this extra space, you will see it as a new drive. Use as any other drive, mount it on any directory.

Re: Adding a Disk for more space

I went ahead and installed ACU.
After I expand the array, is there any extra steps to be done in linux to see the space?

Thanks

Re: Adding a Disk for more space

You expanded the array, so you will see unused space right? Create a new Logical drive for use with linux, do not extend the current logical drive.

Then you will see a new disk in Linux, create the partition, file system, and mount it. If you use LVM, add to the existing volume group and extend your logical volumes.
