Hi,

the most Pci-E NICs will work, only the Management Function will not work. You can check some offers for used HP NICs, they are working and not so expensive.

Yes I have bought a cheap used 331FLR, the problem is that it comes from China and it will take more than a month untill arrival, so meanwhile i can't use the server and I was wondering if I could use it with a cheap 1gbps ehternet pci-express 1x .

The cheap PCI express 1x gpbs ethernet I tried dindn't work, it was not recognized by vmware, so I had to wait for the 331 card to arrive. Fortunately it didn't take much time, and it works perfectly, so problema solved.
