Adding a spare to existing RAID 5

I have an ML370 G5 server with a SAS 5 disk RAID 5 configuration. I now want to add a 6th disc as a spare to enable hot-swap capability. Is this possible without breaking the existing array?

Yes, you can assign an unused disk as spare for a existing RAID.

Re: Adding a spare to existing RAID 5

The link doesn't work. I have the same question. I have 4x 72.8 GB HP Model BD0728A4B4 SCSI harddrive already configured in a RAID5 with WinSer2003 running on it. I have updated ACU to the latest version but when I slide in the 5 drive I want to make a hot spare, ACU has no option (that I can find) to make the new drive a spare. It only wants to extend/expand.
