Adding disks to a Proliant DL380 G3

Hi All,

I have inherited a Proliant DL380 G3 with 3 x 76GB disks in a raid array. All working fine, but hardly any space left. I have 2 spare 36GB drives that I can install, but I'd like them to go in as standalones, so I can use them to backup some old data away from the shared area.

I have absolutely no idea how to do this after reading all morning and trying all afternoon. Any help would be appreciated.

Simply insert the disks into 2 available slots.

What OS is on the server?

Hi,

If Windows is installed and the 36GB hdd's are hotplug, you could configure them as standalones using the Array Configuration Utility which is under Start-All Programs-HP System Tools-ACU.

You can select the hdd and create a new raid alternatively you could also use Smart Start Server and select Deploy server to create array.

Hope this information helps !
