Adding drives to a RAID 1+0 re-stripe?

Hi.

I'm wondering if anyone can point med in the direction of a whitepaper or something like that that explains what happens if I add 2 drives to an existing RAID 1+0 that already has data on it. Does the controller re-stripe all the old data to span over the new disks or does it leave the old data in place and when new data is written it's spanned over all the new disks..

Regards

What server and controller. Some controllers require a battery cache to expand.

Backup first. Place both drives in the enclosure. You should be able to just expand the enclosure to the two new drives. Wait 1-2 days for it to complete. Verify everything worked, expand the Windows or OS partition into the new space.
