Adding hot spare without ACU? Is it possible?
I have an HP Proliant ML310 with an E200 disk controller. (PCI card, not built in)
I recently converted this server to VMware ESXi. It's installed on (2) 146GB SAS disks in RAID1. I have one more disk that I kept out of the server in case I needed to revert back from VMware. I'm confident in the setup now so I want to add the 3rd disk as a hot spare. When I boot into the array bios utility, there is no option to add the disk as a hot spare. Also, since it's running VMware, I do not have the array configuration utility available to me anymore. Is there a way to add this disk as a hot spare without the Windows based ACU?

Re: Adding hot spare without ACU? Is it possible?
No, you need ACU, but all you have to do is boot the system with the SmartStart CD and you can run ACU from there to do your setup.
