Adding new disks to a new array

Hi,

We have a Compaq Proliant 6000 server, using a SMART-2DH Controller.
Originally, the server had 4 disks (9Gb each).
We recently bought 4 new disks (18Gb each) that we want to add to a new array on the same controller.
Actually, we can see the 3 arrays on the server, but we do not have access to the new disks.
My question is: How can we add new disks to our server, into a new array ?

Thank's

Re: Adding new disks to a new array

In order to creat a new array, you need to do the following:

-Add the new hard drives.
-Open Array configuration utility.
- In ACU You will see 4 available Hard drives above the smart 2 DH controller.
- Select creat array then select the 4 hard drives and then click on assign drive to array.
- Click on Done.
- Then creat a new logical drive of those Hard drives.

After you save configuration, the new logical drive will be available to W2K by going to disk management and then creating a new partiton.
If you can not see the new space try to rescan disks in disk management.

Re: Adding new disks to a new array

Hi,

I've just noticed that there is only one cable going from the SMART-2DH controller to the drive cage 1 array. The cable number is 199606-009.
The new disks are located into the drive cage 2.
Is there a specific cable that can go from the controller to both drive cage ?
What do we need as cabling ?

Thank's

Re: Adding new disks to a new array

Hi,

That is true, Array 2DH has one internal channel, and one external channel, so you can only use one cage internaly.
If you need to use the external channel, you need to buy the external to internal loopback cable 296818-B21 Option Part Number, 186884-001 Spare Part Number.
