Additional hard drive

I currently have a (2) two 9.1 gb ultra 2 hard drive installed on my server, it has a smart array 431 control. We decided to add more hard drive to allow us more space (we plan to use this computer for our mail server) and since no one is selling us a 9.1 Ultra 2 hard drive we bought (3) 18.2g ultra 3 scsi hard drive. Can i mix our 9.1gb with 18.2 for a RAID 5 configuration. What will be the effect on speed and performance of my machine?

Re: Additional hard drive

Yes and no. You could install the drives, but your maximum space will be based on the smallest drives in the array. So, if you put 3 x 18 and 2 x 9 drives in, you maximum space would be 36 gb since it is only looking at 9 GB of the 18 GB drives.
