All 6 memory banks show amber - beep code - long (DL380 G4)

Hi there,
we have done some memory replacement on a DL 380 G4 - extending from 4 banks to 6 banks.
The server did not like this and now it refuses to start.
All memory led's are amber and the health led is red.

I guess something serious has changed in the configuration and now the server does not accept any dimm's anmyore.

Can you help?
Thanks & Regards.

You may want to check the memory configuration guideline provided on the back of the server cover.

Important notes:
1) dual rank dimms before single rank dimms starting from bank A

2) If you are using both dual rank dimms already on bank A and bank B, the last bank cannot be used.

3) Make sure you are using the supported memory modules - PC2-3200 ECC Registered DDR-2 SDRAM DIMMs, 72 bits.

Check http://partsurfer.hp.com if you not sure.

Re: All 6 memory banks show amber - beep code - long (DL380 G4)

We have found the error.
Some pins from the memory banks were bent,
so that the system could not "see" the memory inserted. This was the reason.
After benting the pins more ore less to their initial position and inserted the modules a little bit more carefull, the server did recongnize the entire memory.

(it's a pitty you always try to point out on "native" HP products instead of searching for the real answer.)

Thanks & Regards.
