Anybody else see this? Memory in DL380 G2
I ordered memory from crucial.com. The two chips have the same specs but different part numbers from crucial. With the chips in the paired slots of a DL380 G2. During POST, two messages appear:
207 Memory Configuration Warning
DIMM in Socket 6C does not have Primary
Width of 4 and only supports standard ECC.
207 Invalid memory configuration - Mismatched
DIMMS within DIMM Bank. Memory in Bank C
not utilitized.
Clearly the memory sticks don't match in some other way. I do plan on contacting crucial, but I thought I would see if anybody has had similar experiences with two chips that specifications seem to match.

No matter where you go, there you are....

Re: Anybody else see this? Memory in DL380 G2
Hi Jon,
I work for HP and this is not right at all, get back to the supplier to sort it out. If you provide the HP spares part number (XXXXXX-001) [Assuming it is HP mem] I can check out what systems the parts were used in.
Regards
Jason

Re: Anybody else see this? Memory in DL380 G2
Hi Jon,
Make sure that the crucial dimms are equivalent to the following HP specs.
Modules supported in the system are the 3.3 V 133 MHz Registered SDRAM DIMM modules. memories are 2 to 1 interleaved; there will be 3 groups and each group will contain two DIMMs. DIMM slots will be numbered as 1A, 2B, 3C, 4A, 5B, and 6C., Where letter denotes they belong to the same bank group, and number denotes the individual DIMM
Option part numbers (Sales numbers)
===================================
256-MB PC133-MHz Registered ECC SDRAM Memory Option Kit (2 x 128 MB)
201692-B21
512-MB PC133-MHz Registered ECC SDRAM Memory Option Kit (2 x 256 MB)
201693-B21
1024-MB PC133-MHz Registered ECC SDRAM Memory Option Kit (2 x 512 MB)
201694-B21
2048-MB PC133-MHz Registered ECC SDRAM Memory Option Kit (2 x 1024 MB)
201695-B21
Spare part numbers (Maintenance parts)
=====================================
Individual dimm part numbers
128 MB 133 MHz Registered SDRAM
164278-001
256 MB 133 MHz Registered SDRAM
159377-001
512 MB 133 MHz Registered SDRAM
177628-001
1 GB 133 MHz Registered SDRAM
163902-001
I hope this helps.
Brian
