Array Configuration Utility
Hi,
We have just updated the firmware on a DL360G7 to 9.3 to resolve an issue with one of our DIMM slots. I think since this update we are now getting warning code "730" with the following message in the Array Configuration Utility.
Warning code 730:
146 GB 2-Port SAS Drive at Port 1I : Box 1 : Bay 1 is part of a logical drive that is not supported by the current configuration. Any configuration command (e.g. logical drive creation, array expansion, etc.) or modification to the controller will result in the loss of all existing data on the disabled logical drive(s).
It is possible that this was happening before the firmware update. We have the original 2 x 146GB SAS drives that came with the server in a RAID1 configuration Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks.

Re: Array Configuration Utility
Hi,
Please ensure hard drives are of same model and or having same firmware revision. The controller firmware should also be the latest.

Re: Array Configuration Utility
Thanks for the fast response. Both drives are the same model: 6G / DP / 10k / 146GB / Spare No. 507283-001.
Where can I find what version of firmware we have for the drives and controller?
(I installed the 9.3 firmware from the DVD which I believe does various firmware udpates on the server).

Re: Array Configuration Utility
You need to get the exact drive model name and look this up, for example "EG0146FAWHU" or "DG0146FAMWL".
Each drive model (even in same size and specs) has a different firmware.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Array Configuration Utility
Yes, as per spare part: 507283-001, HP Part: 507125-B21
The firmware download link given above contains the firmware for part 507125-B21 or DG0146FAMWL model drives as well.

507125-B21 could be
DG0146FAMWL
DG0146FARVU
EG0146FARTR
EG0146FAWHU
EG0146FAWJC
each with different firmware!
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Adding to the above post Model number for 507125-B21 can be any one from the below and each has differnt firmware version.

DG0146FARVU - Firmware Version HPD6
EG0146FARTR - Firmware Version HPD9

Re: Array Configuration Utility
I have not really had a chance to fix this till now, but appreciate all the feedback so far! I have the firmware revision and production revision of both drives:
Firmware Revision: HPDE
Product Revision: HP EG0146FAWHU
So do I need to update the firmware on the controller and disks? Will upgrading the firmware wipe the controller configuration and my disks? If I need to upgrade both, does it matter what order I do it in?

Re: Array Configuration Utility
I would simply get the smartstart firmware maintenance DVD 9.30 image (or SPP 2011.09), put it on a USB stick, add the appropriate linux files to the repository and boot the server from that stick.
HP always recommends to have a good backup, but updating this way is very safe.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
