Array Controller Drivers for Solaris 8
I am coming across a problem where during the install, it can not locate the primary boot device (being a SCSI drive). I have tried removing one of the 2 drives from the server to no avail. I have also removed the compaq SCU partition as well to see if that was causing a problem. Ideally, I would like to have both drives hardware mirrored, I just removed one for troubleshooting.
This is the details of the error message.
Error: Missing Primary Disk
The Solaris install uses real mode drivers to talk to hardware (...)
The install has detected a disk controller with no driver and assumes it is the primary disk.
then it gives me a path to the device it thinks is the primary disk
/pci@0,0/pcie11,4040@1/cmdk@0,0:a
This appears to be the right location.
I have downloaded the Compaq SP14291 Driver Update disk for Solaris 8 x86. The driver appears to install fine (comes back and identifies a Compaq Integrated Array Controller in the system), but then fails at the next screen with the same error.
Surely I am not the first to have tried this... Suggestions anybody?
Michael

Re: Array Controller Drivers for Solaris 8
The solution to this problem is to use the DCA floppy disk to run the install from. DO NOT use the Installation CD as this problem occurs, instead use the Software CD #1.

Re: Array Controller Drivers for Solaris 8
You need to download and use the required Compaq drivers for Solaris 8 from this web address.

See the readme file for installation instructions. Also see this web address for examples.
