B120i - Which drivers for Windows Server 2016 Essentials ?
PROLIANT ML 310e Gen8 V2
Do you know if there are specific drivers for the Essential versione of Win 2016 ?
I configured the array and booted from Windows DVD.
I extracted this drivers (cp033111) :
in a usb key and, when installer ask for drivers, I select the right one but , after few seconds waiting, the following error message appear : "New drivers not found. Verify that installation support contain proper drivers".
I tried Windows Server 2019 Standard and there is the same issue
Some ideas ??

Have you tried the ones on the HPE site?
This is the link.

Re: B120i - Which drivers for Windows Server 2016 Essentials ?
No, i don't tried because server have not a "Smart Array" controller but "Dynamic Smart Array" (host based).
if I'm not mistaken, the "Smart Array" is an additional controller that I don't have.
In the end I decided to use the Windows Raid Software.
I was really very disappointed by the difficulty I encountered to understand how to solve my problem.
I got the idea that HP doesn't want to support old servers to help sell new ones
I was a fan of HP in the past... i don't think in the future...
Thank you for help

Re: B120i - Which drivers for Windows Server 2016 Essentials ?
There is a B120i driver for Server 2016
* RECOMMENDED * HPE Dynamic Smart Array B120i/B320i SATA RAID Controller Driver for 64-bit Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 Editions
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_abaa5952034546cf8b66d214e9
Pleae keep in mind, this is a chipset SATA controller, the RAID fucntion is software based and requires this special driver, so there isn't any great advantage of uing this driver over just using the software RAID function built into the OS
