BIOS POST Beeps

On powerup I get the following beeps:
1 long, 1 short, 1 long, 1 short
pause
1 long, 2 short.

I can find discussion of the 1 long, 2 short sequence: Probably a video card problem. It's the first set of beeps that I don't understand. Can anyone help?
