BIOS Update Fails on ProLiant DL380p Gen8
Hello,
I have a problem relating the bios update of my "ProLiant DL380p Gen8".
The current BIOS version is:
System ROM Date 02/19/2012
I have tried to update the bios using the dvd i have downloaded from hp ->
HP_Service_Pack_for_Proliant_2014.06.0_784915_001_spp_2014.06.0-SPP2014060.2014_0618.4.iso
BIOS ROM Date 02/10/2014
After updating the bios the server no longers boots (doesn't execute POST) but i was able to login to ILO and restore the previous version of the rom.
If anyone has any ideas why this happens please share it with me.
Thanks!

Re: BIOS Update Fails on ProLiant DL380p Gen8
Try this
Type: BIOS (Entitlement Required) - System ROM Version: 2014.08.02 (A)(13 Oct 2014)
Operating System(s): OS Independent | View all
File name:
SP68600.exe (4.3 MB)
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hello Torsten,
Thank you for the reply!
I will try that bios in the weekend as the server is "in production".
I will let you know the outcome.

Re: BIOS Update Fails on ProLiant DL380p Gen8
Hello Torsten,
I am asking the following question as a measure of precaution:
If i will update the bios, the current bios (P70) will be moved to "Backup ROM" and the new one will be "Active"?
If this is not the case do you have any ideea how can i copy the active bios in the backup ?
I need a valid backup rom in case the server won't reach post (again) after the update so that i can swap again the BIOS.
Below i have "pasted" from ILO ->
Product Name ProLiant DL380p Gen8
Redundant ROM Support
The server enables you to upgrade or configure the ROM safely with redundant ROM support.
One side of the ROM contains the current ROM program version, while the other side of the ROM contains a backup version.
Active ROM System ROM P70 System ROM Date 02/19/2012
Backup ROM Backup ROM Date 02/10/2014 Bootblock Date 07/11/2011
Thank you!

Yes.
Such update writes to the backup ROM, then it makes the backup to active and the formerly active to backup.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
