Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

Is your Configuration with local UPS?

Confused with: All connecting on one phase?

However, probably it would be less related unless you have random shutdown or inadequate power messages.

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

Hi Oleg,

All servers an the two SANs are configured with a local UPS

> Confused with: All connecting on one phase?
Yes, correct, all units are using the same phase, they are all connecting to the same UPS.

Do I have any logs where I can find these messages?
We had the problem that one server shuts down without any reason!
We don't have any messages coming from the UPS.

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

14 per 1 Phase Power enclosure if you have two you double numbers

Some tables presented here
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00301687/c00301687.pdf

and here
http://docs.hp.com/en/364538-003/364538-003.pdf
Page 40

One full size Bay you count as 300 W Max
Matrix shows 13 Servers.

Where to look for Power Errors: in IML from ILO

Cable length: from Power Enclosure about 10ft A and B side. No documentation I looked all over.

I'm still thinking error that you have - Loss Of Chassis Connectivity - caused by Conflicting Management module from Blade Enclosure or One of Backplane Boards that seat insight of Power enclosure.

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

This error may occur some time if you have replaced the management modules.

Check with the management module connected to the enclosure sl.no. 800FJTK852 thru serial console.

For serial console testing check with Blade system user guide.

Remove all the interlinking UTP cables.
Check the enclosure serial no. in the console page.
Check in the management module's console, about enclosure serial no.
Check all the modules like this
Then connect the linking UTP cable.

Your error will get resolved.

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

@kvelayutham

the errors occurs befor replacing the management modules.
All Cables have been replaced as well.

We have checked a lot of Logs an send them to the Case at HP support. But from my point of view they don't know where to search.
They try to solve the problem thru firmwareupdate. but we had done several firmwareupdates yet.

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

Hi mjcb2000,

we have a solution in this case :-))

We had a bug in the power-supplies.
The company building the power-line mixed up the phase in the cables.
We had a check of the hole power-system and as an result the company had to fix it. After that we did not had any problems yet.

Hope it stys that way.

I will give a detailed discription of the problem if you want.

Thx Thomas

Re: BL20p G3 & Power Enclosure

Thanks Thomas. I never thought of getting that checked.

If it wouldn't be too much of an issue, could you provide me with the details so that I can pass them off to my electritian.
