BL30p Installation problem

Hi,

I've got two BL30p with the latest BIOS and iLo firmware (06/23/2004 and 1.62). I connect the virtual media to my CD and boot the server. SmartStart 7.10 CD load well until the beginning of the graphical installation portion. Please have a look on the screen capture...

Both server's got an unformated 60 Gb HD and 2 Gb RAM and the mezzanine HBA FCA card. The hard drive is detected in the diag (F9) and all the other hard is ok in the setup utility.

The three phases Power enclosure (full populated) is not yet in 2.30 firmware but 1.10. I think this is not important right now, as I can power on my server. I've got a mini BUS BAR. Both GBE2 interconnect got the SAN option connected to an MSA1000 latest version.

I also try to boot on a SmartStart 7.0 with the same error.

Any Ideas ???

Hi,

I'm not sure on the BL30p but with the BL20pG2 you need to use the a USB CD rom connected to the I/O port to use SmartStart.

See the SmartStart support matrix here:

Re: BL30p Installation problem

In fact, you're right... This morning I tried it and it work fine. I still beleive that this is not the way that those product (BL line) should work. When I use the iLo and virtual media to install W2K3 with SmartStart 7.10 on a DL360G3 it work despiste this server got a CD and Floppy.

Re: BL30p Installation problem

This should not be the case - installing via SS using iLO is supported and does work. Not sure why you are having problems, but this link shows it as supported:
