BSOD on ML350 G6

I got a BSOD on a Proliant ML350 G6 with the logs showing the following:
Blue Screen Trap (BugCheck, STOP: 0x0000001A (0x0000000000041201, 0xFFFFF680000EA968, 0xED10000156F55867, 0xFFFFFA800B1E2FC0))

On reboot the server reported an error on the raid controller SmartArray P410i but i couldn't find anything in the logs after the reboot

Any ideas?

Getting same think on DL380 G6

Nothing in Windows logs either.

Windows 2008 r2
Did not check firmware yet.

I go into the Smart Array utility, server locks up.
System also locked previously during backup operations.

Re: BSOD on ML350 G6

the g 6 comes with 3 power supplies i guess you have the 400w range they are s>>>T

not enough power to the RAM in time for the oS and HDD and so it crashes. the issue sometimes caused by using 2 power supplies of diff power,
remove this 460 psu
511777-001 AC hot-swap power supply - 460 watts
but if you are using this one 460 replace it

use this HP 750W Power Supply
Part Number - AC 750W PSU 512327-B21

enjoy :)

Re: BSOD on ML350 G6

Really?

This would be the 2nd or 3rd unit of simmmilar config we have deployed, this one is the lowest spec w/least drives and/or no add-in cards

Not that i disagree with what you are saying, but i would be very unimpressed if what is almost a base config of a ml360 can't operate as it should

although, one would assume if this was a power issue that it would happen during times of load? i can put the unit under heavy load and it does not crash, and the crashing/bugchecks generaly report simmilar things (0x01a of 0x07f) - so far I've replaced the PSU, maybe I will try replacing the main board before I order a secondary psu?

Thanks ;)

Re: BSOD on ML350 G6

matt this is a new psu developed for 6 series it looks like it will have same notorious issues as the famous 403781-001

as of date it is following nicely in its footsteps....

Re: BSOD on ML350 G6

interesting, so you'd be infering the 460w psu is faulty (in design)

Indeed updating the bios is a very potential solution, see:
http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en&docId=emr_na-c01199416-2

Furthermore, did you configure your dimms properly? See user guide p. 46
http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en&docId=emr_na-c01711832-2

and check the part nos. of the dimms to identify them as U or RDIMM

What was the POST error message for the P410i? Can you trace this back in the Integrated Management Log viewer? (is it a reoccuring message?) What does the Array Diagnostics Utility report show?

Are there any amber/ red leds at the frontpanel?

Are there any amber leds on the systemboard? If so, use the stickers on the cover to find out what these amber leds indicate.
