Backup takes a long time after a fresh install of Win2k on Proliant ML530

Hi All,

We have a Proliant ML530 server running Windows 2000 Server (SP4) with latest system BIOS, RAID Controller FW and Proliant Support Pack V6.4 installed with a smart array 4200 controller accomodating 350GB data. Note, that this server was running NT4.0 Server and have only recently undergone a fresh install of Windows 2000 Server. Since the fresh install of Windows 2000 Server, backup of the server takes a very long time often forcing our operators to kill the backup process.

Network configuration are all the same as what they were on NT 4.0 OS. I have tried disabling the storage management agents with no success.

The server runs SQL Server 2000 with latest SP.

Anyway, please help!!

Regards,

Hi,

- What is the backup method? (local, network etc)
- What backup software, version?
identify whether the problem is disk related or tape related.

You can test your disk throughput with the attached program.
