Battery-backed up write-back caching array controller
Hi,
Can someone tell me if the following machines have a battery-backed up write-back caching array controller?
-Compaq Proliant 6500
-Compaq Proliant DL360
If so, how can I check if write-back caching is enabled on these controllers?
Kind regards,
Werner

Re: Battery-backed up write-back caching array controller
He Werner;
Battery-backed write cache is a feature of the specific controller you are using rather than the server itself.
Knowing which array controller you have in each server will allow us to determine if you have batter-backed cache on them.
Cheers,
Janine

Re: Battery-backed up write-back caching array controller
Hi Janine,
The Proliant 6500 contains two smart array 3200 controllers.
The Proliant DL360 contains a smart array 5i controller and a smart array 3200 controller.
Regards,
Werner

Re: Battery-backed up write-back caching array controller
Thanks Werner;
The 3200 controller has 64MB of battery-backed write cache standard.
The 5i controller has an optional "Plus" module that can be purchased to make it a 5i-enhanced and provide battery backed cache. Out of the box it has read-cache only.
The Array Configuration Utility can be used to view and enable your cache. It is available by installing it online from within your OS or by booting the server off of SmartStart.
Hope that helps,
Janine
