Am I goint to need drivers for the Raid5 or Smartstart will do it work ???
In a "point" of SmartStart, I suppose to insert Windows 2003 Server, isn't it ???

SolutionHave a look at the ML350 G5 Documentation here (Spanish Link)
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManualтМй=es&cc=es&docIndexId=65818&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121586
Don't configure a single system disk - You have no redundancy when it fails.
Perhaps a better solution is Mirrored Pair (2 disks in RAID1) for Operating System and the others (3 disks) in Raid 5 for Apps/Data.
If all the disks are large capacity you may feel that you are wasting the space on the RAID 1 disks so perhaps buying smaller capacity disks for the O/S mirror using all the large disks as a raid 5.

Brian

Re: Beggining Prolian Ml350G5... SmartStart... Raid5... first steps
download Smartstart CD(SSCD) 8.0.
boot from that CD.
you will reach SSCD homepage, in there you will have:
Deploy Server - Maintain Server - View Doc
so you need Maintain Server, Select Array configuration utility, Configure your RAID
go back to SSCD homepage
click on deploy server and continue normal installation
I added some screenshots those are for W"008 but it the same

Re: Beggining Prolian Ml350G5... SmartStart... Raid5... first steps
Because I know if I use the mirror that make Windows 2003 Server Disk Administrator, If the main fails, I have to configure the other manually, wasn't it???
Has the server an HP utility to make the Raid1 mirror for the OS... you told me that works automatically if there is a fail ???? Could I change the disk for this mirror in hot plug too ????
I have five 500 GB HP Sata Disks....

Re: Beggining Prolian Ml350G5... SmartStart... Raid5... first steps
yes if you have RAID 1 and 1 HDD fails you can replace it with another one in a hot plug action
yes you at least need 3 HDD to have a RAID 5, so it is OK 5 HDDs for RAID 5
