Hi
Is there a fast way to do it, SPP or similiar? Usually I have had problems utilizing HP's smart / intelligent methods. The firmware level is no apx. 5/2017.

SolutionGreetings.
The best way to update a server's firmware is through the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP). We recommend using the latest version of SPP - 2019.09.0
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_a6fe854af60d4b86a8905f0e27
Boot the server with the SPP image >> Select Automatic Update >> This will update the firmware versions of all the device installed in the server. This is called an Offline update method, this method will not update any driver versions.
Please Note: Please make sure the Drivers are up to date as per the recommendations from VMware.
Thank you

Re: Best way to do fimrware Update DL380 G9 / ESXi 6.5
Thanks Danks
Ok, I'll try that one.
Donwloaded also this BIOS: SP99475.exe since to me it seems that very often the SPP seems to have older versions of BIOS + other firmware that actually installed to the server. Please see the BIOS details below:
RECOMMENDED * System ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade for HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9/DL380 Gen9 (P89) Servers (For USB Key-Media) - 2.76_10-21-2019(A) Nov 13, 2019
Will start by installing the BIOS via USB key. The boot to the SPP USB key and maybe select the interactive method so I can see what it tries to do. Or is there a spesific reason why I should select Automatic Update?

Re: Best way to do fimrware Update DL380 G9 / ESXi 6.5
I prefer interactive mode for exactly this reason.
You can also download newer files (BIOS) as linux version and add it to your USB stick.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Best way to do fimrware Update DL380 G9 / ESXi 6.5
Greetings.
Thank you for the update. Automatic update is to perform a complete update of all the device firmware in the server without any user intervention. If there is a need to do specific device firmware update, then Interactive method can be performed.
If user is aware of the process, then Interactive method is recommended.
Thank you
