Blade enclosure

Pretty frequently, HP SIM picks up an error in the eventlog and claims the server had post errors on reboot. It does not seem to me that the server is rebooting. Looking at the eventlog, it looks like the server is losing contact with the iLO module on the blade enclosure? ? ?

We are running 8 BL20P servers in an enclosure with 2 CGESM interconnect switches. Can anyone shine any light on this?

Re: Blade enclosure

Hi,

Seems to connectity issue.
Becasue there is no such known issues reported, one was there, which is given below
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00610877&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

But i suggest you to check the connections again also.

Checking more for any other details, will be posting later.

Re: Blade enclosure

I have the CGESM switches, not the GBE2.
So I don't think this is relevant.

Also, this almost always happens in the middle of the night when there is no one here... and lastly, when we shut everything down and completely power it down, it runs clean with no errors for quite a while, then it starts producing these errors on a random basis.

Re: Blade enclosure

Lost chassis connectivity to Power enclosure not to Server (ELM4JTK55B 1 Phase Power Enclosure)
Make sure Management Module seat correctly if Possibly swap with Module from different enclosure opposite to one where error Detected)
Update Firmware for Power and Blade Enclosure
Also Reset Cables and Reset both management modules, see for reset on the back of Module.
Also Update rack Infrastructure

Re: Blade enclosure

Thanks for the heads-up as to that being a power enclosure message. I reviewed my firmware revisions and they are all up to date. I reviewed my event log and there are several informational messages about both power enclosures. So either there is a problem with the backplane of the blade enclosure, or there is a problem with the power enclosures. Interestingly enough, I have an existing condition where the blade enclosure and power enclosures don't populate any information in insight manager. The tech I worked with asked me to wait till they realeased the new version of SIM. But now I am beginning to think it might be my blade enclosure. Has the SP for SIM been released?
