Blue Screen of Death after Windows 2003 Service Pack 2

After we installed Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 on a ML370 G4

It gets the following error:
Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

NDIS.sys - Address F120c8Ab base at F71E7000, DATE stamp 45d6a0a1

the strange thing is maybe after five BSOD it will actually boot right into the OS.

I have a microsoft call open on this but they seem not to be able to get a dump file. We disabled ASR and still no dump file when the error occurs. Does anyone on anything hardware related that would prevent a dump file from being created.

Microsoft and me looked at every KB article, including the one that you posted. But without a dump file they cannot determine why the computer is getting the BSOD.

http://www.ndis.com/. NDIS is the Network driver. If you can't upgrade the Network Driver, either pull or disable the NIC (if onboard) and see what happens. You may even be able to change to another type of NIC that uses a different driver.

also - I'm sure you've done this already so I'm just throwing it out there. Ensure the OS is set to create the dump file.

I also have a support case open with Microsoft and they keep asking for memory dumps. I disabled ASR via System Management Homepage (SMH), and was then able to get a complete memory dump. They also said a kernel dump would be just fine, so you could leave ASR enabled, and still get a kernel dump within the 10 minute ASR deafault. I have sent Microsoft over 5 memory dumps so far, and no luck in identifying anything.

Here is a link to a larger thread on this BSOD issue < http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1128223 >

Re: Blue Screen of Death after Windows 2003 Service Pack 2

I'm not sure if the ML370 uses the same NIC driver as the DL380, but if it does, you actually want to downgrade the driver by one version.
I'm convinced this would resolve the issue.

Re: Blue Screen of Death after Windows 2003 Service Pack 2

you can also read the dump file yourself if there is no microsoft support. Microsoft provides the tools...
