I want to update my Processor from 2.666GHz to 3.00GHz. When I flashed the Bois I recieved an error "system halted processor not supported"

I used the lastest Bois Flash from HP web Site.

Re: Bois Update

Wayne,

Then I'd say it won't work!

Exactly which system and processor are you having issues with. Where did you aquire the processor from? Is it a supported HP part #?

More info is needed if you want help here.

System model number and series, Motherboard part number, CPU part numbers, etc...

The Server is HP Proliant DL380 G5.

Re: Bois Update

Wayne,

According to the Quickspecs, some early models on the DL380 G5 were not upgradable. You system may or may not be depending upon the Product Code (xxxxxx-xxx number). If you haven't already done so, check the M/B part number and verify.

Locate the Product Model or M/B part number and then go here to see which parts will work in your system and are upgradable:

Quickspecs:

If it is upgradable:
You didn't indicate which version of CPU & BIOS your system was at, so I'm assuming you're using this latest version found here:

OID=1065&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=5

Install the old CPU and perform the Firmware upgrade, while you're at it you might download the Firmware Manitenance CD and update any additional components, then install the new Processor Kit.

Hope this helps.
