CL380 is recognized as a DL380

I have a CL380. I upgraded the BIOS on one of the nodes. The other node I left as is. I am trying to install windows 2000 adv. The upgraded node sees itself as a DL380. The other node sees itself as a CL380. The problem arises is that they use different CPQ*.cfg files and I cannot reassign SCSI ID's on the second node. Consequently the CR3500 array is not picked up by the OS or teh BIOS (Smart Start does not install the 3500 array utility) and I cannot configure the unit for clustering. Anyone else see this? I am able to change the SCSI ID on the first node, and smart start installs the necessary utilities/drivers. Any ideas? THanks!

What BIOS upgrade did you use for the CL380? Did the upgraded node see itself as a DL380 before the BIOS update?

Re: CL380 is recognized as a DL380

The 'newer' node is P17 WIth a revision date of 12.18.2002

The other is also P17 with a Rev date of 9.27.2000

Neither node picks up the array. THanks for taking the time to help me with this.

Re: CL380 is recognized as a DL380

We are seeing the same thing, but we did not upgrade the bios (P17 with a Rev date of 9.27.2000). What did happen happen is that one of the nodes needed to be rebuilt and the Smartstart version used loaded the System Configuration Utility version 2.43a, the node that does work is using SCU 2.45a. Nothing else has changed.

How do you know that your machine sees itself as a DL380?

Re: CL380 is recognized as a DL380

If a CL380 sees itself as a DL380 (or vice versa), check the SW1 system switches on the motherboard. For the CL380, the switches should be:

#6 = Off
#7 = On
#8 = On

For the DL380:
#6 = Off
#7 = Off
#8 = Off

Re: CL380 is recognized as a DL380

And is the same for ML370?
Sometime my ML370(600-1000)"was born" DL380 and stop on PCI Configuration. (show this with display)
If I remove the PCI card from the slot and reboot the server, f10 for configure hardware, reboot again with PCI card reinstalled and it is a "ML370" and boot normally.
I think is incompatible from bios my video capture card for video survey, but W2KServer SP4 is correct functionally
Tell me about dip switch 7 and 8 for verify mobo setting.
