COMPAQ PROLIANT 1600 SERVER

We have been running SCO Open Server 5.0.5 on a Compaq Proliant 1600 Server for about 5 yrs now. Of late, the following error occurs at
random :-

WARNING: crom: copyin_all_reg(): sptalloc() failed. Couldn't allocate memory.
(msg message repeated 4 times)

This error causes the Progress V 9.0 database server running on the same Proliant 1600 server to log out users and the following error msg is displayed:-

SYSTEM ERROR: Too many sub-processes, cannot fork. Errno=11. (358)

Any ideas anyone?? Would appreciate the assistance!

Re: COMPAQ PROLIANT 1600 SERVER

sptalloc() is a memory allocation function. Would this machine be laboring under a severe lack of memory? You say that users were kicked out of the application *before* the message appeared. So the message
was probably just a symptom of memory exhaustion.

A number of patches are onsidered "required" for OpenServer 5.0.x systems. See ftp://ftp.sco.com/SLS/README.OSR5.Supplements
