COMPAQ PROLIANT 400 + IDE HARD DISK

Hello.

I have a Compaq Proliant 400 unused. The SCSI hard disks are dead. I want to install IDE hard disk instead and make it my home server.

How big an IDE hard disk does it support? 500GB?

Thanks in advance for help.

Hi,

when the server was made , there were no 500gb HDDs, it is arhaic server.

You can see what is supported :

Pentium 3 model :

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10538_div/10538_div.HTML

Pentium 2 model:

http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10340_div/10340_div.HTML

What I can see is 18.2 SCSI...nothing mentioned about ATA/SATA HDDs...
