CPQDA386 deactivates error message
After a Snapback error message we get CPQDA386: The disk controller in slot 1 has returned a command with an unrecongised status 10h. The CPQ SMART-2 Slot 1 Dsk 1 MIR device will be deactivated. Contact a service representative to verify you are using the latest controller firmware and driver.
We have made sure the driver and firmware are the latest. Please note this does not cause any problems?
Any ideas?

Re: CPQDA386 deactivates error message
What are the exact error message(s) your getting on the console? Prior to the Smart-2 deactivation. Also what is the exact hardware configuration of the server, what SCSI controllers as well as devices are attached to the server.

Re: CPQDA386 deactivates error message
It could be that the driver you are using is simply incompatible with the firmware on the Smart controller. In any case, the .DSK driver you are using is very old now (3 years at least), and is not being updated anymore.
As most NetWare versions now support NWPA drivers I would suggest migrating to that architecture. This is done as follows:
- Upgrade to the latest service pack for NetWare
- Install the latest NSSD
- When asked to upgrade to NWPA drivers select Yes
- Check that the conversion from DDFS drivers (.DSK) to NWPA drivers (.HAM) is ok using the following document:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/papers/ecg0271097.pdf
RagS!
